There is a song by that title I know I sang it in chorus in high school and you know the closer we get to Christmas it feels colder outside but it feels warmer as friends and family come home for the holiday. I hope that all of you have a very merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year.
I was watching Fox news and freinds this morning and heard a story about a British school teacher who is currently in jail in Sudan because when she was a teacher she allowed her students to name a teddy bear Mohamed. You can read more here: http://news.independent.co.uk/world/africa/article3204071.ece . well I have come up with an idea I need a pig as I plan to name it Mohamed and feed it and take care of it then if I can invite a few muslims over for dinner where I will serve Mohamed. I think i will do this every year so I am going to the livestock auction to buy a piglet and name it Mohamed after some great a**hole in history.
I have my entertainment center finalized but last week a friend found a site that showed how to upgrade a series 3 tivo storage space. Well 30 hours is not much space and that is what the stock s3 tivo comes with. So I got a esata drive enclosure and a 500gb sata hd. I put it all togethere and as you can see from the picture above that my system 3 tivo has 98hd hours that is 98 hours of HD recording time and if i record in standard def I now have 927 hours. that is way cool. This has to be the easiest upgrade you can do. After all you only have to plug an esata drive enclosure with a large sata hard drive up power your hd up and power your tivo up and as powering the tivo up hold down the pause button and keep the remote pointed at the tivo when the orange light comes on type 62 on your remote and your tivo will reboot and you have upgraded your s3 tivo. This is awesome now I can go away for a week and still not miss a program.
well I just spent three days learning how to use this software. I ordered my copy today with subscription and autocad 2008 fun fun fun but I do stand a good chance of making money with the software and it looks great it will even let me do 3d fly thru fo the house completely rendered so a customer will be able to see what the inside and out side of the house will look like before the ground even gets broken. Well I will let you know more later.
Well I have more to say about my new TV. The picture is just awesome when compared to my 21 year old Curtis Mathis TV and when you watch it in HD it is even better. You really need to go check an lcd TV out and the prices keep comming down.
Well Friday my friend came over and we wired up the new HD TIVO and got rid of the comcast cable boxes. So we are starting to get the hole process finished up one or more to changes and everything will be buttoned up and finished and looking good. That TV is great.
A couple of things we are going to add to the entertainment system is finished is we are going to wire a slingbox pro in also I am putting the hole thing on a really nice UPS. I am still fighting with the harmony remote control but it seems to be getting better.

okay you know you need a new TV when your old one starts loosing it’s picture and going to all white when your watching something with a lot of white in the scene. So with that being said I started a quest over 2 years ago. My wants where few my desire was with in reason but my budget was limited. Well the LCD TV’s have finally reached a price point that I was willing to take the plunge. Granted the TV I got is not the top of the line but since any TV will need to be replace again and again it is reasonably price for what it give me. The TV I settled on was PROTRON PLTV-3750 just google you will find it every where the reviews where middle of the road but for the price you can’t find better IMOP.
Well the new TV came in it is dual tuner with one being an HDTV tuner. The TV also has plenty of inputs for my needs your of course might very. So I am excited with my new TV until I figured a couple of things out.
1) my av receiver won’t cut the mustard
2) my cable box needed to be turned into a HD DVR
3) I need to get rid of my pioneer 6 disk cd player
4) I need to add a computer into my home entertainment center
5) I need new cables
6) the cable DVR is jut not a TIVO
7) I want a remote to control it all
So with all that being said I figured I would get a new av receiver and a TIVO and com-cast came out and installed a new hd DVR and I ordered new cables to rewire the hole center and ordered a harmony 880 remote controller, oh I forgot I also ordered a new shelf setup from IKEA to hold all the equipment.
Well I solicited a friend to come over and help me mount the TV on the wall and rewire the hole setup and now two weekends into this project we have it on the wall and wired and so far I am amazed at how everthing works and looks. If you have not seen a HDTV yet or for that matter an LCD TV you need to get off the couch and go to your nearest retailer that is selling it and take a look but leave your wallet at home cause you might just leave with one and that is the mistake I made.
Yes buying a new TV was my first mistake cause to this point I have blown my entire entertainment budget for the year on this project. ugh! But the picture is great and well worth it.
Now many might ask why did I get a cable box instead of a HD TIVO series 3 DVR well have you seen the price for that? So I figure I might spend next years budget on one but I want to get used to the HD first. I still have a few bugs to work out like getting the controller to work right with everything and getting the computer programed to play all my cd’s that I have ripped and stored on a hard drive on my network.
So I will tell more about that in my next post when I hope the new setup will be finished and all the cables hidden and wire tied together to hide everything.

can walk under ladders break mirrors cross the path of a black cat step on cracks pick up pennies tails side up you all those bad things are canceled out because to day it friday the 13th and so you can do all those things with out any problems so have a good friday the 13th and don’t hesitate break that mirror.
