I managed to buy my KENWOOD TS2000 used but in great shape and for a real deal of a price. I did equip it with all the options except the 2.4g module. I have used it at two field days. I just built a new antenna for it that I used this year at field day. (see picture)

It is called a magnetic loop or a small transmitting loop antenna. I Found the plans on the web and in the ARRL Antenna book. It uses a trombone capacitor that is made out of 3/4" copper outer and 1/2" copper inner with teflon wrapped around the two 1/2" pipes that slide into the 3/4" pipe. I used a long threaded rod and an electric screw driver to tune the antenna which is done buy sliding the trombone in and out for the band that you want.
